International Moke Day 2011 HobartIMD started out a little chilly in Hobart but quickly turned into a sunny fine day (although there's still a bit of a nip in the air). We had one of our best turnouts with 10 Mokes, many of them coming along for the first time. We started off with a short run out of town, then headed into the foothills of Mt Wellington.

We followed one of Tassie's many fantastic Moking roads which wound its way up over the range and down into the valley on the other side. The road was perfect for Mokes, narrow but mostly well surfaced with corners so tight that even the 998s were able to go fast enough to give their drivers a thrill. After a few stops for gas-bagging, and to let the tailenders catch up we wound up at a little cafe in the back blocks. We'd warned them that we were coming but they were still a bit overwhelmed, so we ended up spending a fair while there. The delay meant that a few of the group headed home, but six of us continued further up the Derwent Valley, taking in the scenery which is the greenest it has been in years.

It was a perfect spring day with great company!

Thanks to everyone who came along and made it a great day of Moking.
