The rear light assembly that got the longest run on the Moke was the Hella made combined tail, stop and indicator in their universal trailer range that the front indicator and parking assembly was of the same style in amber and clear. This style of rear light was fitted around 1968 or '69 until it was replaced by the square shape Hella unit in 1977 or '78. Internally the original assembly uses festoon style globes, contacts at each end like a fuse, which were prone to needing a little wiggle every now and then to get them to work properly as the contact oxidises or simply moves enough to lose contact.
The same style of rear light can still be readily purchased in automotive product stockists from Narva(part #86010) using a more conventional globe arrangement. Hella no longer lists the product in their catalogue.
