Around 1976 the regular Hella brand of tail ligt assembly began sporting a black edge or surround, replacing the normal plastic chrome fitted to Mokes in the years before hand. Exactly when and why this change came about is not really known, whether it was a change requested by Leyland Australia or was it a change in the model by Hella and Leyland just fitted the new form. As more information comes to hand this part of the Moke history will be expanded. 

For last years of production the square Hella was fitted to Mokes from around 1977 to 1982.
