Australian Top Gear
« on: July 11, 2008, 09:11:59 AM »
Rumour has it that Moke enthusiasts will have a good reason to watch the first episode of Australian Top Gear. I don't want to get my mate in trouble, but he passed on a photo of a bright green export moke, fitted with a shark cage.

Hmm, interesting!  Who do you know Tim?  Warren?

I hope it was a complete wreck.  I'd be slightly annoyed if they sunk a good Export.  After a few hours in salt water it'll rust pretty badly. :(

Unfortunately it looks to be really good in the photo, it even seems to have all its sidelights intact.

I understand they cleaned out the fluids, degreased it then tea-bagged it. Apparently the "men in grey suits" were a bit wary of it though. I believe the plan is to dry it out and get it going again so that they can have it in the opening show.

I don't, but I'm presuming that if you watch the Pommy version, SBS will be  advertising it pretty heavily as they did a while ago when the idea was first raised.

Hi,

I doubt it is directly related, but while travelling I was contacted by  Production company looking to buy a Moke. By the time I replied they had found one so keep an eye out for another Moke on he big or little screen.

Its a shame you were away Terry, you could have supplied them with a rusty heap that wasn't worth saving, because I suspect thats what they'll have ended up with.

There was, I put it up then thought better of it. I'd pretty much identified my mate who sent it to me in my messages above, and he did tell me to hold off until he spoke to the guy that took the photo. I reckon its OK, but I don't want to get him in trouble.
