Wagga Wagga is located approxiamately halfway between Sydney and Melbourne about 40 or so kilometres west of the Hume Highway. 450km or 5 hours in a normal vehicle. In your Moke you can expect to take a good 6-7 hours from the capitals, while Canberra is just over the road.
It is not by accident that MokeFest is being held in a regional town and it is a key ingredient of having a good event for two reasons. The first is to 'separate the mutton from the lamb' as you will be sharing the weekend with other people whose interest in the Moke is sufficient enough for them to make the effort to drive all the way to Wagga. And you might be suprised how much difference that makes to the whole atmosphere of the event.
The second reason is the old saying 'it is not the destination but the journey that is important' or something along those lines. Travelling to MokeFest alone is nowhere near as much fun as travelling with others, picking up new people along the way and arriving at MokeFest with new friends all in the Moking spirit. It also is safer and more comforting to people whom travelling further than the local shop or beach in their Moke is a daunting proposition.
To help the whole process along people are volunteering to organise 'convoys' from their area and I would suggest you make contact with someone nearby or nominate yourself as a contact if there is nothing in your area.
As we get closer to MokeFest then more details will start to appear as individual groups make their plans. Don't forget that some people may be travelling down for the preMokeFest on tuesday while others will be making the dash for the main event starting on Friday.
