At the time of writing this there are only 23 more sleepless nights, I mean sleeps, to go be fore MokeFest 2009 begins and we start a week of Moking Utopia. I am looking forward to seeing a lot of new cars, ones that we are seeing under restoration as I type and those familar Mokes that we have seen before but still find something new to look at on them. At last count we have over 100 definite starters for MokeFest and a few more that will be just visiting for the day.
Invoicing for MokeFest.
Yes it is finally going to happen, I am going to be sending out the invoices for MokeFest and asking for your hard earned, unless you are using Kevin's handout, to pay for the items you have ordered and booked for MokeFest. We have received your merchandise order form you will receive an Invoice with payment details. Please review it carefully and let me know if you need to make any alterations before paying.
If I have not received your Order Form you will get a Sales Order, not an Invoice, and it will have the items we know you want, based on emails and the Registration Form that you returned a few months ago. Again I ask that you email me any changes, and/or the Merchandise Order Form so that we can complete the order and send you an Invoice.
Self Determined Registration Fee
As i expected some people are still not sure what this is about, and/or how much they should nominate to pay. The purpose of the SDRF was to allow people who may be on a limited budget to attend MokeFest by paying what they could afford and thus more Mokes at MokeFest. The money raised goes towards covering costs like hall hire, stationery, decorations and other expenses the event has, and takes the pressure off having to raise the shortfall via raffles and auctions etc.
Do not worry about what other people might be paying, simply put a figure you would like to pay for attending 3 or more days of MokeFest. The information is kept confidential.
Mokes Inc.
On your invoice you will see an item for $10 for Associate Membership to Mokes Inc. which is to cover our Public Liability costs for the event. MokeFest 2009 is now run by Mokes Inc. which is all the same people, we now just have a legals status rather than just a group of individuals.
Mokes inc. is a Not for Profit Association set up to promote and managing Moke events like MokeFest, International Moke Day and other 'private' events like the recent Moke-a-Rama in Newcastle. Primarily it is formed to look after the offline activites of the online community at The Moke Forum by providing a legal status to people who wish to develop Moke events in their area.
Trailer Storage
If you are being boring and bringing your Moke on a trailer and need to store the trailer then you need to contact Mr Trailer Storage on
brett@nicho.id.au or mobile 0140 566 043 to make arrangements. Brett has arranged secure storage at a friends place but it does have some conditions, notably daylight hours only access and an annoying neighbour.
I expect people wanting to leave early on Monday morning would like to have their Mokes loaded and ready to go so I have a plan to park/lock those trailers between Moke Central and the campers, but you need to bring the chains and padlocks. The trailers would be on the other side of the cyclone fence but any disturbances should be heard by the people sleeping a few feet way.
They may be able to be stored in the Caravan Park but until everyone arrives we cannot really see how much space is going to be left for parking trailers and the gutters are huge bluestone blocks.
About your Moke
I would like everyone to write a half to 2/3 of a page about their Moke and send it to me, with a picture, so we can use it in several places. The idea is to create a laminated A4 page about your Moke that can be displayed with your Moke so people viewing your Moke can read about you and your Moke rather than just look at it and walk past. The sort of information you might like to write about is how you got your Moke, what mods or personification you have done to your Moke to make it yours and something special people might like to know about your Moke.
The preference is to get the words in an email or MSWword 97-2003 document and send the picture separately, not in the word document. Or just send the word by snail mail and we can add a photo of your car when you get to MokeFest
You can
download an example written by John F. about his long history with the Moke to get an idea but please be creative.
Once received we will put your information in a nice pretty MokeFest Page with logos etc. and if the post MokeFest booklet gains enough interest to make it viable, then you could be reading about your Moke on your coffee table.
Volunteers.
If you ticked the box for offering to volunteer at Mokefest, expect to be hearing from me soon as I am starting to build up a list of things we need help with over the course of Mokest. Jobs include computer skills/ Photoshop'ing, secret merchandise/goodies business, public speaking, digital photograpjy on the road and at the photo booth, traffic control and leading a tour or convoy, setting and runing the nights at the hall.
Dave and I are still looking for people interested in helping with the production of the MokeFest the Movie DVD. If you know your way around a Moke and can spot interesting things about a Moke at 10 paces or have the gift of the gab and can talk the crutch off a one legged man then you could be well suited to help. We need people to do interviews and people to find the interesting Mokes and people to interview.
See you at MokeFest,
Terry Pollard
