Hi,

Don't read into this more than what the heading says, no-one is organising a Muster as yet, but from the responses in the Poll at www.moke.com.au it is clearly wanted to occur in 2008. If you haven't placed your vote please pop over and do so now.

Still thinking about such things I have been looking for where the next one could or should be. If we go north to Qld it makes it even further for the WA group that made a big effort to come over. If we took it to the West I think the numbers would be down as many wouldn't make the effort to cross the Nullabor, but I personally would go for I haven't been over there for sometime.

I looked on a map the other night for somewhere central and it would be some rather minor town in the central NSW. Last year the Transport Hall of Fame held its 10 year get together in Alice Springs but it lacked the numbers it could of got in the eastern states.

All this leads to is I don't think it matters where it is held, only the really keen ones will make the effort to go where ever it is and the rest will go if it is not too far from home. So now comes the next issue, a venue.

I was the only person to ask why Shepparton was chossen as a venue as there are other towns that could have given us a greater exposure and atmosphere than Shepp.  Shepparton did lack a lot to do as i found out trying to organise the activities, but there was accomodation available to support our gathering. However i also found the local people I dealt with  very friendly and helpful going out of there way in many cases to make sure we enjoyed our event, perhaps in a busier town thier effort would not be as great.

So any 'town' would need to be able to accomodate 300-400 people at Easter above what ever their regular accomodation for Easter would be. Some sort of interesting thing to do or area to tour would be good.

Please select which State you would like to see the Next Muster in and post a reply here if you have some suggestions for towns/venues that you think could be potential sites.

This might help whoever is thinking of organising another Moke Muster with some idea of where to go as 2008 is going to come up pretty quick.

Hi,

The Poll is showing South Australia and Queensland are going neck and neck for the next Muster.

Sorry AWD you look like the only one in WA putting their hand up to have it there.

Let see more Votes :-)

I picked South Oz. If it was located in a centralized area, with plenty of notice, not only would the event be well looked after, the community it was in would benefit. Probalby a town like Burra, not large but well looked after. or even one of the larger towns along the Murray.

Queensland is also a good choice, but then again so is Tassie, WA, NT, NSW. Wherever it be it will be well patronised, if there is enough time between events, with more promotion it could turn out o be much larger as well.

Hmm, I think a Tasmanian Moke club might be a useful thing first, so that there would be someone to organise a Muster.

Must do something about that one day.

There are moves afoot to have a Tasmanian Moke get together, somewhere in the middle, but we may have left it a bit late in the season.

It gets pretty chilly! Coldest trip I ever did was Hobart to Elizabeth Town in July. There was frost on the side of the road all the way. I was fully rugged up but when I got there I couldn't really stand up, I was frozen solid down the right side. The next day the engine coolant froze solid and the welch plugs popped out.

Did you drive Willson's moke in the convoy last year? If so we've met. I was up front in the orange moke.

Hi Everyone,
"COULDN'T BELIEVE I HADN'T VOTE ON THIS".How slack of me!!! Shocked
Well I probably have more of a chance of getting to a Muster after Hubby enjoyed the Tassie Trip as he did.He was dead against me going last time.

Anyway I voted NSW. My reasoning is-I'd love to do a closer one soon then hopefully line up for a SA one in a few years time. Cool A southern Qld one would be fine anytime too.
Yea and if anyone is on to organise it,count me in.I'll definetely put up my hand to help out.
Smiley Muster on, we can do it!!! Netty
