Good news for the Tassie Moke community, I have just got off the phone from Michael, ex ANR engineer.  Michael is the engineer who designed the modifications and the conversions for all the railway Mokes in Tassie.  He appears to be quite interested in the event, so I am hopeful we will get to meet him on Sunday.
So it will be great to have your Moke here on Sunday, Mel.

This is my good work for the day!

Cheers

The Hobart convoy (of 3?) are gathering at Brighton (behind the bakery) at 7:30. depending on how we travel we might just go straight to Royal Park, but I'm keen to look at the swap meet. I need parts for my lastest 'project'.

Tassie Mokes,
Have had a look at the forecasts for the weekend, Saturday is looking pretty ordinary with rain, rain and more rain.
But Sunday is forecast to be Mainly fine, and the wind for driving up the Midlands, looks like it should be reasonable in the morning 10 knot NW and the afternoon will strengthen to about 20 knot NW, so fit you mast and bring you sails for a fast down wind run home.

All in all it should be a reasonable day, I just need to fit in a driving lesson, with dad and might get to bring his car along.  Toy time.

Well the weather held out for us today, mind you the Hobart Mokes had a bit of wind for the trip up and it will be pushing them home with a lot of force.

First up in Launceston, the northern Mokes gathered before converging on Royal Park where we met with a large group of Minis who had come out to play.

The Northerners

The Mokes gather by the river.

As you can see, the State Mini club like to crash in on IMD and what a great family gathering.

Our numbers swelled to 10 Mokes with the arrival of Alicat

And then I hi-jacked Vanilla_slice's Moke for a photo shot with Tamsyn, I hope you don't mind Mel.

All in all a nice day in the Park.

See you all again next year and hopefully most of you in between as well.

Cheers

Talking of Mel and her Moke, she managed the find of the weekend, not my glory though, so I'll let her tell you the story.  Here is a photo and I will leave it up To Mel to fill you in on the finer details.

I had a great day today. After a very early start (I was on the road at 6:45) the southern group met up on the outskirts of Hobart and convoyed the 200km to Launceston. There were four southern Mokes (but two were on trailers). The head wind on the trip north was really knocking our speed back, and the road was choked with Minis which seemed to be stalking us. However, I used a cunning method to ensure that the Mokes lead the group into the venue in Launceston...I contacted the organiser and asked him how to get there.

The weather cleared up nicely during the day. There was a good turn-out and it was great catching up with the northerners and single north-wester again.

After a couple of hours of admiring Mokes, checking out Minis and talking rubbish it was time to head home again. Those of us brave enough to drive our Mokes had a great run back with roofs off and the sun belting down. With a favourable tail wind we were safely back home by mid afternoon.

Well of course it was OUR (Moke owners of Tassie's) event.  Even if the Mini Owners club of Tasmania did all the work and set up, packed up, most of the promotion and most of the attendees.

It was on IMD, so it is OUR event!
