Hi Mate,
Looks very nice, my engine was that colour when I bought the moke.
I'll 3rd it with the spin on oil filter, it is easier and looks better!
If you don't mind me asking, how much was the rebuild. I worked mine out to be approx $4 then I opted for the BMW conversion. The $4K coverd the engine and gearbox to be rebuilt with a desent exhaust and twin carbs. The BMW engine will cost more than $4K at the moment I'm up to $6 but thats it now except for buying a turbo and computer  Roll Eyes

I have stopped counting, I still need the Exctactors and exhaust but so far the motor and gear box have reached about 4 and a half.  I justify it by saying, if I did it on the cheap now it will have cost me at least 2 1/2 and I would not be happy until I had done it properly and that would be at least the same again.  Do it once and do it right.  MAKE IT LAST

Cheers

Actually Ian,
Just running through my head today, new job training, I need to add another grand to that, crank and block, cleaning and machining.  There was somethingelse I paid for that day but can't quite remeber what.

Newie/Dev,

Martin is showing what is called progress, it happens when you spend more time in the shed working on your Moke and less time on the Forum telling us you are going to work on your Moke.  Smiley

Not wanting to start any Aussie Kiwi rivalry here but are you going to let them beat us by having Martin finish a project that he started after you guys started yours!!! Where is your patriotic sense of duty Smiley

As I see it you both have projects going no where with motors ready to drop in done by people who have done more work on your project than you have. Cheque book restoration I believe is the term Smiley

Our Australian history is full of legends who achieved great things, they had one guy who climbed a mountain, don't let your country down, get out in to your sheds and start welding!!!!

Terry

Quite a few pints of the Black stuff  Grin

Well the couple of Black pints  and of course Terry's bum kicking, has lead me to a bold move tonight. (Yes Terry I am talking about what I am GUNNA DOO, again)  Apart for my welder mate who has been promising to come and help me with the Moke for 12 month, I also drink with a mate who tinkers with all sorts of things.  I have made a deal and pick up mate two's MIG on Monday night.  So Martin you can have faith that your welding is all of a sudden going to look REALLY GO.  I haven't pick up a welder for at least 10 or 15 years.  I was never much of a welder either, once every 4 or 5 years I would make a set of shelves or a floor.

So I will start with little ideas and build up to completting the floor over the next couple of months.

Sorry all words at the moment but I hope to be able to back this up with photos and progress reports in the coming weeks.

Cheers

Go Dev - good to see you are on a roll again.
BTW I hadn't used a mig for nearly 20 years before I started on the moke.

That's all right Dev. I was a bit concerned when I started reading your post that you had actually done something. I don't want to be left back here all on my own  Tongue

Comon Newie,
You need to get youself into gear if you are going to have it ready for your secret launch at your Moke show.  I thought you were planning on having the Gnome as the prize feature of your show.

Cheers

Hmmmm....... Secret launch at the Round Up could be a problem. A LOT of other things demanding my time/attention/money at the moment. Hope to make some significant progress before Round Up, but driving it there is a bit optimistic  Cry

Thought I had better put a copy of Sus's challenge into Morton's thread as well.  Need to keep the evidence where I can find it.

If Buttercup beats Morton, I will bare my bum in Bourke Street !

Sus (who has seen poor Buttercup)

Oh well, no point keeping Sus in suspence,
I just folked out $537.15 renewal on my Leyland station wagon!  It was due back in January but I took advantage of Morton being laied up and have just made sure I didn't let it go over the 90 day clause.
