Posting photos in The Moke Forum
« on: April 02, 2008, 09:52:09 PM »
The Moke Forum allows for registered members to upload photos to a Gallery section and then use those photos in their posts to help make things clearer for others or just to show what they are up to on their Moke.

The gallery which is part of this forum is easier to use than having a third party(Flickr, Photobucket) hosting your pictures for you. However photos posted in here cannot normally be viewed from other websites due to hotlink protection to prevent bandwith stealing.

Before you can add a photo to the Gallery there are a couple size restrictions, that make the photos load quicker and don't waste bandwidth, that your photo to be uploaded needs to meet, otherwise you will waste a lot of time watching your photo get uploaded to then be rejected.

Use any photo editing software you have to make the dimensions of the photo no more than 600 pixels wide, 600 pixels fits well on most screens. When you save the photo, its filesize must be less than 150kb so use a higher level of compression for .jpg files.

To add a picture to the gallery or to your post select the Gallery tab just below the Moke Forum header.

1. Select a Gallery that is most appropriate for the photo you want to enter.

2. Scroll down to the bottom of that gallery and select Add Picture. You do not have to wait for all the photos to load.

3. Select the Browse button to find the photo on your computer that you want to upload.  Note the size limits, 800 wide & 1000 pixels high,    and 192kb file size, you may need to resize the photo in a photo editing program to enable it to be posted.

4. Give your photo a title and a brief description.

5. Select the add picture button. The photo will be uploaded to the selected Gallery and you will be taken to list of photos you have uploaded.

6. Click on your photo thumbnail to see the bigger picture view.

7. To make your photo appear in a post on the Forum you need to copy(normally 'cntrl+c' or right click on mouse) the line of code found in the 'BB Code' field below your image.

8. Go into your post and place the cursor where you wish the photo to appear and Paste(cntrl+v or right click on mouse) and you should see something like
Quote
img]http://www.a web url/somenumbers.jpg[/img]
appear in your text.

9. Press the Post(Save if you are modifying your Post) and the image should appear.

Tip: Having two Browser windows/tabs open will make this easier if you have more than one photo.

7. To make your photo appear in a post on the Forum you need to copy(normally 'ctrl+c' or right click on mouse) the line of code found in the 'BB Code' field below your image.

8. Go into your post and place the cursor where you wish the photo to appear and Paste(ctrl+v or right click on mouse) and you should see something like  appear in your text.

Thought this screen shot may help this step. Most new members get it but pictures
help us learn :P So You can either 'Right click' in the 'BB Code' box and click 'Select All'
then 'Right Click' again on the now selected area and click 'Copy' or 'Ctrl+C' the highlighted/Red arrowed area for those a bit more computer savvy and either 'Right Click' in the thread and click 'Paste'
or 'Ctrl+V'. Don't forget to copy the whole code as some is hiding offscreen ;).

Hope I'm not treading on toes posting this.

Samm

P.S Thanks Maddog for noting my error and suggesting a slight mod to my post.
