Hi,
More from the folk in the NE of Victoria.
The plan for Sunday 16th is coming together, and we have some folks coming to the area on Saturday from both North and South of the border :
Sunday 16th
9am meet for big breakfast at Barnawartha (20 mins on Melbourne side of Wodonga)
Bektash house 418 Rileys Road - on Hume Freeway , Barnawartha exit, approx 20 mins South of Wodonga,
exit to Barnawartha, at the roundabout in Barnawartha, turn left towards Chiltern, travel approx 1 km out of town, Rileys Road is second on Right.
Bektash house is approx 600m and the first house on Left,)
11am drive to Albury, assemble in Noriuel Park (at entry to Albury)
then drive via the Hume weir and onto Beechworth,
1pm arrive Beechworth for lunch
drive on to Wangaratta area - those who wish can drive through Warby ranges towards Dookie (good for the Shepparton folks to head home)
This should provide several meeting places where folks can join :
Barnawartha, Alb-Wod, Beechworth (lunch), Wangaratta, then return to respective homes.
Today we had the local paper (Border Mail) photographer meet some of us and he took lots of photos.
Several local Mokes met at Drivetrain Systems site in Albury, where they have a 1971 Moke plus trailer fitted up as an emergency response vehicle (in case of fire, spillage, etc), This Moke has only ever been on the site and has just covered 2000 miles.
I have submitted some Moke details and history, and spoken to the journalist who is writing the article. I will forward article and pics when available.
Unfortunately the "Border Locksmiths" moke ute wouldn't start today and didn't make the photo shoot. (Shane had it running last Friday, and is determined to be running for Sunday 16th).
I have confirmation of several Mokes from the Shepparton area, plus supporting Minis, coming for breakfast, and some for the Saturday.
Roger.
