I agree Mav, 15" wheels need low profile tyres to fit a moke and Pez's are too high.
I thought I had a photo but cannot find it right now :(

So do the 7 inch refer to the width? .... so you can get 6 and 5 inch?

That's right Spudie. I may be wrong, but I think standard Sunny's are 5.5"?

Thing to remember with wide wheels of course is how far they will protrude past the guards as well as how easily they will foul the steering at the front.

Hi,

Yes the width of a rim is measured between the beads(inside edges) and tyres width is measured across the Tread. The total width of the tyre and rim is a variable determined by how much difference there is between the tyre and the rim width as to how much the the tyre will bulge.

When Hag was fitting these to his Mokes he went with 205 tyres to get a fairly straight sidewall. The same 205 tyres on a smaller Sunny rim(5.5") would cause them to have a much more rounded look and overall wider set up.

I have mini lites on the hulk now but just not as wide as 7 inches. Does anyone have photos of a wide tyre on a smaller rim?

Spudie,

I just had a look at pictures of the Hulk and it looks like you have the 5.5" mini lite rim with probably 185 tyres or maybe 205 tyres. Can you confirm the tyre size.

Your guards are already nicely widened so 7" with 205 tyres wouldn't stick out much at.

You'll find  the tyres won't bulge out as much at the sides. Should be a lot more square shouldered depending on the style of tyre you have.

Wouldn't think they would stick out any more than they do now, Will just give them a lower profile and a better look  :)

If I add 1.5 inches to my current wheels, is that how much they will stick out?

No it wouldn't. The widest part of your current set up is the sidewall where it bulges as the 205's fit on the 5.5" rim. Assuming you are keeping the same tyres and going to 7" rims then the sidewall will become less bulged so therefore thinner overall so you may find they will stick out less.

However the other thing that will determine where they sit will be the Offset of the rim, the mounting face, of the brand you purchase. All things being equal with the wheels you have now then the offset would only 3/4" to outside width, the other 3/4" would go in under the guard accounting for the total of 1.5" extra in the rim. You would need to learn the offset of the rim you have and compare it with the 7" rim you would like to have.

Sorry you are still no closer to knowing that you can just buy some rims and they will fit without issues.
