IMD Canberra
« on: August 22, 2010, 07:49:31 PM »
Any members interested in a Canberra IMD?  Last year we met in front of Old Parliament House and then Moked out to the Cotter for a BBQ.  We had a great time, despite the weather, so if anyone would like to do something similar or would like to put forward other ideas, please let me know.

Cheers
Peter

Count me in for that!
The Cotter is a great place for a BBQ.

Hi John, you're on the list. ;D  With a bit of luck the weather will be kinder to us this year.  I have arranged to have a notice placed in the Mini Club Newsletter which I hope will attract a few more takers.
Cheers

I will be joining in ;D ;D just hope the weather is kinder as I'm still getting an ear full from the co-pilot about having no heating after last year.

G'day 998,
They are funny like that, the swombys.
I couldn't go to Tassie last year unless i put a
heater in it for her.
Hi Peter i hope you have a good day.

G'day 998, at just 2 degrees, was it the fact that you didn't have a heater or that you didn't have the roof up that upset the co-pilot  ;D ;D ;D.   Having warm kneecaps wouldn't have helped.  I don't know, these co-pilots have no sence of humour ::)

Hi Smoken, I hear you have some lame reason (going somewhere obscure to pick up something) for not attending the Canberra IMD this year :) :)  Okay, next year.

Cheers
Peter

As I mentioned above, I put a notice in the local Mini Club Newsletter.  I haven't had much response :( -okay to be honest I haven't had any response  :-\- but there could be others coming along who haven't contacted me.

So we'll meet in front of old Parliament House at 10.30ish, and then Moke out to Cotter for a BBQ.   Sound OK??

The weather, in contrast to last year, looks like being great Moking weather so 998 you won't need the heater ;D

Cheers

In total contrast to last year, the weather in Canberra was clear and sunny and the temp hovering around the 15 degree mark (heading to the forcast max of 21) as we gathered outside Old Parliament House at the designated meeting time of 10.30.  If 2 Mokes can constitute a convoy, we convoyed out to Cotter for a BBQ hoping that some other Mokers had gone directly to the BBQ area.  Alas, this was not the case so the Mokes sat chatting in the car park while we charcoaled some meet on the BBQ.  What a pleasant way to spend the afternoon.  Rather than just having a once a year get together, we thought that we might arrange more regular drives to lunchtime eateries around the district to try and encourage other Mokers out.  If any forum members would be interested in this please let me know. Peter

hmm I miss Cotter :'( I used to drive up there in my Moke in the late 90's (I was at Weston Creek so not that far really), always wanted to sneak up and fish the dam there.

Thanks for the comments gents, they're much appreciated.  When any two or more Mokes get together it makes for a quality event.  The red Moke (998Moke) is really nice.  The paint work on Stealth Moke does come up well in photos but in reality it's the orginal paint and shows it's age but I'll still take the compliments ;D ;D ;D

Spotty, next time you're down I'll take you for a run out through that area the in Stealth Moke.

Cheers
